Has Borla always had questionable fitment issues? Heard rumors of having to mess with fitment issues and am experiencing it first hand on my ACR. At over $1200 for a cat-back system I would have expected it to be decent. Should have splurged on a Corsa! Thoughts?

I had thought Borla was good quality, especially considering a catback for my E46 costs as much as the cat back for your Viper.

I haven’t heard of any issues with quality. I have a Borla catback on my GTI and went on perfectly without having to mod or cut anything.

Most in the Viper community either go with Borla or Corsa. Corsa being about double the price. A lot of people reported fitment issues. Even hangers were welded in different spots from driver to pass side pipes. Sounds badass but damn was it a bastard to install!
Had to adjust almost every hanger to fit

Yeah this was not a fun install at all! lots of fine tuning of hangers to even fit

They’ve had multiple issues on the BRZ platform. The general consensus on the forums is that their products are extremely overpriced for the quality you get.

Borla®: For when you want your car to sound like it’s at the other end of a 3ft drain pipe.

My mom’s C5 has got a borla catback and x pipe. She had a similar setup + headers on a previous C5, no trouble with either. Both sound fantastic, but the one with headers shook the earth.
I haven’t heard great things about the headers though. My dad and I are looking for a set for her, but we haven’t done enough research to find out about fitment issues with other brands/long tube headers.

I’d always thought of them as a quality, albeit not top-tier, manufacturer. That is until I got an FR-S. Their UEL header for the application has proven to be very poor quality; LOTS of cracked welds and a fair amount of poor fitment. I haven’t heard much in terms of their catbacks/axlebacks for the car, which I’d guess are okay since they’re exhaust components that are subject to significantly less stress than the header, but I’m still planning to steer clear of their products.

I’ve got a Borla header on my XJ... 10/10 would not recommend.

interesting. I am looking at the ATAK + Mid-pipe for my E92 M3. Haven’t heard of any fitment issues.

Even hangers were welded in different spots from driver to pass side tips. Rubber mounts on the car are in identical places on both sides too. Just not what you would expect from a large name brand.

Actually sounds really good and a deep tone. Not what you are describing lol.

Yeah I would definitely steer clear of a header after seeing how their cat-back fits. Would just be asking for trouble!
